Program Description 2005 The South Dakota Center for the Advancement of Mathematics and Science Education invites outstanding high school juniors to apply for participation in an all-expenses-paid, 4-day summer enrichment session at Black Hills State University. Current high school juniors who reside in South Dakota, are intellectually curious, and have a strong interest in math and science are encouraged to apply. Participants will interact closely with BHSU faculty members, exceptional teachers, and a select cohort of fellow participants. The goal is to enrich the academic preparation of the most promising high school mathematicians and scientists across the state. Students will expand their minds and make new friends with peers who have similar motivation, talents, and interests. Each participant will receive a $100 stipend plus a modest travel allowance (based on distance from hometown to Spearfish). This year's session is scheduled to begin in the late afternoon on June 26 and end in the early afternoon on June 30. Approximately 15-20 applicants from across the state will be selected to participate. Rising Scholars will spend four days together on the BHSU campus, dine with program faculty and staff, and immerse themselves in mind-expanding and fun math and science challenges.
