NASA established the Educator Resource Center Network (ERCN) in an effort to encourage the teaching of science in the schools and to make quality educational materials available to educators (teachers, librarians, school administrators) and pre-service Education majors. In addition, the centers provide professional development training to educators in their serving area.
The ERCN materials collection consists of science and mathematics materials in various formats that may be duplicated and used in the classroom and/or placed in the school library collection. There is no duplication fee, but visitors must bring their own blank media as well as pay for any photocopies that are made. Materials in the ERCN collection do not circulate.
NASA materials are written to the National Educational Standards in science, mathematics, technology and geography, and are ideal for interdisciplinary use and thematic units.
In addition, the ERCN stocks many materials in print format – Educator’s Guides, posters (PDF), lithographs, fact sheets, and more. One copy of anything in stock is available upon request to any visitor. All of the printed materials are also available online and may be downloaded or printed as needed.
We recommend that you check the NASA CORE catalog before visiting to determine materials which may be helpful to you. You may search the CORE catalog by keyword or media type. We have many of the titles listed in the CORE catalog; those which are not in our collection may be ordered from NASA CORE at minimal cost.
